The American Dream is a book inspired by these often untold stories. It is about us, first generation, second generation and even third generation immigrants, and our personal experience with the American Dream. This book is about those experiences, the experiences of twelve people who have come from differing parts of the world in one way or another. The American Dream is not just about the broad outlines of being an American, nor simply being an immigrant, but also about the individual.

 

Creating this book has shown me that the American Dream is impossible to categorize or be defined by a dictionary. It's an experience that can only be told by the one who has lived it. I can't know how you will feel after reading this book; I can only hope that each reader gets a clearer sense of what us, "The American Dreamers," feel, think, and live every day of this never ending chase. So the next time you ask someone, "why did you move here?" don't settle for the short answer, but instead ask for the untold story.
